Symposium Status: Way-Finding Debrief

Simon: Lets wait to Christos and Vivienne in the call.

Symposium Status: Way-Finding Debrief [christos, vivienne, annika]

Shadi: we made progress in the text costumization (on David adn Shawn) very close to be ready.
... The rest is yet to be done.

(Waiting for Christos and Vivienne)

Shadi: thinking about new topics (Web of Things)

Klaus (on new topics): Web of Things, as a potential topic.

Shadi: eLearning

<shadi> https://www.w3.org/WAI/RD/wiki/Research_Catalogue

<sharper> Internet_of_Things - Really Web-of-Things - editors: Janina Sajka (and others from PFWG), Klaus, Shadi - slated for March 2015

Simon: Timing for the next topic, next march?

Shadi: We are looking for new symposium cochairs.

Shadi: We are looking for cochairs who will help Janina.

Christos: I could not connect with the symposium (technical problem). Apart from that I was very smoth.
... The participants were fine even with the technical issues we had.

(Yes)

Shadi: Very similiar opinion about the Way-Finding symposium. Very high quility discussion. Less technical problems than in previous symposium (dialing twice and the beginning).
... People were very engage. We had longer sessions. And they stayed after the break.
... Most papers were about data gathering and data formating.
... Good mix of research and industry, practical development.
... Godo transition for the Web of Things topic.
... Just received the transcripts, the cochairs will comvert them in hmtl, and willd o some clean up.
... As soon as possible we will have the transcriptions available.
... Look up timeline to hace the first drafth of the reports.

Christos: We are using a shared document for the questions/comments. Coudl we sahre it with the group of participants?

<christos> I have a google docs with all the process....

Shadi: I dont think we need the actual questions for the symposium. There are som guidelines from Simon. Maybe prepared all the questions in advance.
... This way will give a good set of documentation for new synposium chairs outside the group.

Christos: I will describe the preparation process that we follow.

Shadi: e.g. the fact that you had an script first for instance.

Simon: The technical problems and the mecanics you used to solved them, you can share it so people will be prepare.

<christos> nice metaphor...!!!

Simon: Document the technical problems, how you make things look normal while you were havin technical problems.

Christos: People could hear the audio...

Christos/SImon: It might be useful for having individual audio feed that people can use it to keep track of the event.

Simon: It woudl be interesting to try out a trial of this.

Shadi: I don't think we should change the mode of participanting, but we can add the transcripts to it.
... W3C is thinking about retiring Zakim, and we are evaluating new conferences systems.

Simon: Maybe Google handout?

Klaus: The symposium went smothly. We had the feeling that there was much an internal seminar.
... Need to show other things to show that outrearch of the symposium (nombre of participants, where are from).

Shadi: Some participants dont want their name published.
... Any thoughts to improve this Klaus, let me know please.

Klaus: I will let you know.

Simon: The W3C will the two days during WWW.

Potential Face-to-Face Meeting

<shadi> 21-22 May 2015

Shadi: 21 or 22 of May 2015. Thursday and Friday after the W4A.
... Part of the WWW conference, in Florence in Italy!
... Make a survey to know how can attend the face-to-face meeting.

I am trying my best to go.

<sharper> I will go

WWW is over

W4A is 23 Jan.

<christos> I am not sure...

Shadi: Maybe have a day and half a day more open to the public, people interested in W3C. We alreday had a session and there was interst.

(last year in Korea)

Simon: I agree it sounds a good idea to atract new people to the group.

Chairs Item

Simon: As a chair of the RDWG, last week is my last week as chair.
... It was great to be chair. I will join the group as often as I can.
... This will be the end of my chairy. We are looking for a new chair for the new year.
... Make sure for the new chair that the symposium happens.
... I will be next week (last week) before the new year.

Shadi: Thanks a lot for all your work, Simon. It's been a real pleasure. I was specially hard because there was no co-chair. It was extra work on you. Very interesing work over the last three years. Interesing synposiam, Interesing research catalogue.
... We have a great work to keep up with the RDWG. I am glad to know you will be still a member of the group.
... We need to look for two new co-chairs. It is a lot of work/effort and planning ahead.
... I would like to propose Mark Hakkinen as a potential co-chair. He started this group, as an interest group, many years ago.
... I've talking with Mark and we have ben looking as his commitments. We need to identify another cochair with Mark.
... If you have any thoughts or reactions let me know. I am very confident it will continue to be a good group.
... I will have more time devoted to this group in the following years.
... SImon will send this news no the mailing list.

Thank you. See you next week.
