Tzviya Siegman: last time week spoke we did a call or conensus on the dpub role draft. PF prepared for a similar call and a lot of issues came up, primarily around the general extensibility of ARIA. ←

… this is the first time an extensions of ARIA is proposed, created a lot of discussion within PF and HTML WGs ←

… we decided that until a decision is made on extensibility, we put the draft work on ice ←

… another option is to create a extensions spec to HTML depending on how the ARIA extension rules end up ←

Ivan Herman: There is tension within the ARIA group on whether the role attribute is bound to AT usage, or can be used more generally for structural information. ←

… some people are on the restrictive side, and do not want a large number of new values for role ←

… and they have understandable arguments but on the other hand if we follow that argument to the end it would be too restrictive for our uses ←
