<sandro> trackbot, start meeting
<HadleyBeeman1> Thanks, Sandro :)
<trackbot> Meeting: Government Linked Data Working Group Teleconference
<trackbot> Date: 24 October 2013
<gatemezin> Hi all.. sorry I will be on irc..
<sandro> gatemezin, JoaoPauloAlmeida you folks calling in?
<sandro> scribe: DeirdreLee
<JoaoPauloAlmeida> sorry I need to leave
<JoaoPauloAlmeida> I messed up the daylight saving time
<JoaoPauloAlmeida> my apologies
<sandro> no worries
DeirdreLee: Fadi commits to one implementation for DCAT, probably on Irish Open Data that we've already been working on
<scribe> ACTION: hadleybeeman to follow-up with fadmaa and johnerickson on whether there are commitments for DCAT implementations [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2013/10/24-gld-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Error finding 'hadleybeeman'. You can review and register nicknames at <http://www.w3.org/2011/gld/track/users>.
@sandro: based on timeline, we have to decide in today's call whether we are proceeding to REC track
<gatemezin> sandro , yes. I called before but I was not able to listen the conf. So I dropped the call
hadleybeeman: there is a
commitment from DERI, but not another commitment
confirmed
... correction, there is another commitment confirmed from John
Erickson
@sandro: comment on spec from Tom Baker on DCAT spec & profile - will this effect moving to REC track? probably not, as it is more an editorial issue
hadleybeeman: commitment from bhyland to have updated version of best practice doc by 10th November
boris: I was talking to ghislain about best practice document. What is the deadline for the updated version of this doc?
hadleybeeman: absolute deadline is the end of the year, but it would be good to have an updated version well enough in advance to account for feedback & review
<gatemezin> +1 to have an updated version (almost final) version by mid November
boris: the URI section and SKOS section will be improved on in the document
hadleybeeman: it would be great
to finalise this document and have it approved as a WG Note by
3rd wk of Dec, so the final draft should be ready a month
before, so 3rd week of Nov,
... so in order to allow for group discussion, the draft should
be ready by 10th Nov
@sandro if needs be, we could skip the public draft stage
@hadleybeeman is any other help needed for best practice doc?
<sandro> PROPOSED: Advance DCAT to Candidate Recommendation, with the exit criteria of each term dcat namespace being properly used by two or more data sources
@boris not yet, editors will work on it first and then get back to us
<sandro> PROPOSED: Advance DCAT to Candidate Recommendation, with the exit criteria of each term in the dcat namespace being properly used by two or more data sources
@sandro: how terms from other vocabularies are been used with dcat should not effect the exit criteria, difference between if we're evaluation the DCAT spec or profile
<TallTed> +1 as sandro suggests, i.e., track (profile-based) DCAT usage broadly, with narrower (vocab-based) exit criteria
hadleybeeman: if having a separate spec and profile is causing us trouble, perhaps this will also cause issues in the transition meeting
<gatemezin> +1 to Sandro proposal ... I will try to help consumers like this one opendata.montpelliernumerique.fr/Les-donnees?format=rdf to use the latest version of DCAT.
<gatemezin> ..I hope to convince them ;-)
@sandro: we need to discuss practical details of implementation and exit. But fadmaa is needed for this conversation
a?
@sandro: can hadleybeeman do the transition request?
@sandro: most difficult part is to go through comments page and write a couple of paragraphs of an overview, and just make sure everything has been addressed
@sandro: describes Tom Baker's comment..
scribe: don't think it's a blocking issue, shouldn't stop us doing CR today, but should be addressed
PhilA: in two months time it's christmas eve :)
hadleybeeman: makes sense to have conversation with Fadi and John present
PhilA: issue isn't specific to DCAT, it's an ongoing issue of how vocabularies/profiles fit together
@sandro: investigating what public data sources w3c have and could implement as DCAT....will look into it further
<gatemezin> @Sandro, It could be great that work... If you need a volunteer for that, I am IN ;-)
@sandro: the proposal wasn't on the agenda, so people weren't given chance to attend and voice opinion specifically
scribe: will follow up with an email after for people to write their +1s or to object
<hadleybeeman> PROPOSED: Advance DCAT to Candidate Recommendation, with the exit criteria of each term in the dcat namespace being properly used by two or more data sources. (as typed above)
@sandro: +1
<hadleybeeman> +1
+1
<PhilA> +1
<boris> +1
<TallTed> +1
<PhilA> yay!
<gatemezin> +1
