in addition to the question of how they are invoked, the first question would be how to find out which ones are allowed for a specific container. that would be the REST side of things: there should be hyperlinks representing "affordances" of the container, so that clients understand what they can do, and how they are supposed to to that, if they want to engage in these interactions.

I believe this can be closed as being subsumed by the ISSUE-25 resolution and the new, more specific ISSUE-33 and ISSUE-34.
