Accessibility Basics

all comments clear. no discussion needed.

3 accessibilty intro resources - discuss comments in the intros wiki page

<shawn> http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Accessibility_Intros_Notes

Shawn: introduction to three variants, orignial WAI, W3C new, and accessibility basics (new)
... should they be retained, merged or what?

Liam: web accessibility basics - appropraite to keep in separate to the other 2

Sylvie: read all three. has difficulty choosing. the 2005 one seems to point to older resources.

Shawn: is there anything in the old one that is particularly good that should be retained? the WAI page is aimed at people who are more focussed on accessibiity, whereas the W3C one and the WebEd one are more for people who come across it looking for something else

Shadi: How big is the difference in relation to the WAI pages as a more informed audience

Shawn: will take furhter action

Promoting WCAG as ISO

Promotion of WCAG as ISO/ IEC

<shawn> http://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/wcag-new#iso

Shawn: currently has section in overview

Shawn: Standard will be free from W3C but have to indicate how it is available from ISO - which wont be free
... Do we need to say more

<shawn> http://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG20/wcag2faq-draft#iso

Sylive: perhaps some more information about what the ISO means

Shadi: maybe phrasing of benefits in the FAQ could have some rewording and included in the overview pages
... in particular why? and Impact
... Maybe need more questions in the FAQ's for particular types of audience eg referencing for people who can't reference WCAG directly
... also change management and translations

<shawn> Suzette: ISO has positive impact

Shawn: one idea is that overview and FAQ have something short

Shadi: Most crucial part is to contextualise and show the benefits and you can still get it for free

Sylvie: not clear about how to indicate what you might be conforming too - are those levels in the ISO

Shawn: the levels are still present in the standard

Shadi: Example is French government who could not adopt WCAG because it is not a standard they recognize, and then went and adapted WCAG.

Liam: is this relavant to anyone who isn't involved in legislature? if you're a developer, you don't need to pay attention to this bit.

<Liam> "Do YOU have legal or bureaucratic barriers to referencing WCAG? Fear Not! You can now reference it as ISO 40500! Woo Hoo!

Shawn: need to avoid multiple linking between overview, FAQs etc
