Description:

HTML5 should support identification of program boundaries on continuous streams.

  1. Program boundaries need to be identified in continuous streams so that actions can be taken such as:
    1. Synchronization of content
    2. Changes in content rating, authorization, etc.


Motivation:

  1. Support for features associated with content boundaries even if the stream is continuous.


Dependencies:

  1. Existing methods used by television content providers


What needs to be standardized

  1. A consistently specified marker and/or time base to identify boundaries
