Grammar Test Page for XQuery 3.0 with Update Facility

The applet on this page contains a parser for the language defined by XQuery 3.0: An XML Query Language [2011-06-14 WD] with XQuery Update Facility 1.0 [2011-03-17 REC]. (Note that this combination is neither normative nor currently on-track to become normative. This applet is provided for experimental purposes only.) It allows you to type in an expression, and then view the parse tree, or else obtain an error if it is syntactically incorrect. The results should not be used as an absolute reference, and may flag legal syntax or errors not intended by the drafts. However, the parser used here was generated by processing the same representation of the grammar that was used to produce the EBNF productions in the corresponding specification(s). This parser is also used by the working groups to validate the integrity of the grammar.

This page is meant to be a tool for readers and parser implementers. Implementers are invited to visit the Resources section below the applet.

Type in a XQuery 3.0 with Update Facility expression then click on the button:

If the Applet box above is gray, or non-functional, it is likely that your browser does not support Java. In particular, Microsoft no longer distributes their Java VM. You may install the Sun Java Plug-in. Go to http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/ and follow the "Download the JRE" link, and install.
