This is invalid markup, but since the entire object is wrapped in a <SPAN> it will be harmlessly moved into the body.
It's questionable that Google should be asking developers to produce invalid markup, but since the HTML processing rules are clear on what to do with this markup, the result is something that should work for a conforming HTML5 processor.
