Rechartering

The WebApps WG began its third charter review period on 16 March 2010.

The new proposed charter identified five specifications as new work items for the group:

In addition, there are several other specifications which were either renamed or reorganized, with some being split off as separate specifications from existing specifications; in addition, some specifications were subject to proposals for alternative approaches, which were published as competing specifications with the same scope as the originals. These were not all identified, since they were judged to be be firmly within the existing scope of the charter. For clarity, these are listed below:

  • File API was formerly File Upload
  • Web SQL Database was split from Web Storage
  • Indexed Database API was an alternative proposal to Web SQL Database
  • Programmable HTTP Caching and Serving was split from Indexed Database API
  • Uniform Messaging Policy is an alternative proposal to Cross-Origin Resource Sharing
  • Selectors API Level 2 was split from Selectors API
  • Widgets Packaging and Configuration was formerly Widgets 1.0: Packaging and Configuration
  • The Widget Interface was formerly Widgets 1.0: APIs and Events
  • Widget Digital Signature was formerly Widgets 1.0: Digital Signature
  • Widget Updates was formerly Widgets 1.0: Updates
  • Widget Access Request Policy was split from Widgets 1.0: Packaging and Configuration
  • Widget URI Scheme was split from Widgets 1.0: Packaging and Configuration
  • Widget View Mode specs (Media Feature and Interfaces) were split from Widgets 1.0: Packaging and Configuration
  • Widget Embedding was split from Widgets 1.0: Packaging and Configuration
