I have proposed COMM, a [http://comm.semanticweb.org/ Core Ontology for Multimedia] derived from MPEG-7 and DOLCE. I'm also working closely with the IPTC standardization body for bringing the NewsML architecture and other IPTC standards to the Semantic Web, building a [http://newsml.cwi.nl NewsML ontology]. I have already been involved in W3C activities, participating in the [http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/BestPractices/MM/ Multimedia and Semantic Web task force] of the [http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/BestPractices/ Semantic Web Best Practices and Deployment WG]. I have co-chaired the [http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/mmsem/ Multimedia Semantics Incubator Group]. I'm now participating in the [http://www.w3.org/2008/WebVideo/Annotations/ Media Annotations Working Group] and co-chairing the [http://www.w3.org/2008/WebVideo/Fragments/ Media Fragments Working Group].
