From Media Annotations Working Group Wiki
The news use case is about the annotation of news which are mostly available on the Web as textual information illustrated by images, videos or audio files. The use case contains an explanation of different standards and vocabularies to describe news content.
The news use case is motivated by the fact that diverse formats are used to describe and exchange news related information on the Web. The use case introduces popular formats like IPTC Newscodes, or the EBU format. It presents examples how information is encoded using these standards by different providers.
