Agenda Topics
<fsasaki> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2008Jan/0002.html
<fsasaki> http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css3-text/#grapheme-cluster
<fsasaki> "Note to Reviewers: The UTC debated whether or not to just change the definition of default grapheme clusters to encompass what is here defined as extended combining character sequences, but decided that it might pose a compatibility problem for implementations and standards using the older definition. Feedback on this issue would be welcome."
(discussion of whether dgcs and xcss's are what CSS3 wants)
felix: they've kept dgcs the same
but added xcss's
http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr29/tr29-12.html
note: it's been edited recently (jan 11)
trying to figure out where "rule 9b" is defined... it appears to be a typo refering to 9a
they ought to change the name of section 3.1 to reflect that both DGC and XCSS is defined therein
andrew: the term "grapheme cluster" is used haphazardly in the document; not clear if one or both are meant
addison: intro change to remove
grapheme cluster makes one of the changes inconsistent with
unicode use of word "character"
... icu using this terminology change too: really
confusing
<scribe> ACTION: all: UAX#29 review send to public-list ASAP [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/01/16-core-minutes.html#action05]
<scribe> ACTION: Richard: assemble our comments on UAX#29 for submission to UTC next week [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/01/16-core-minutes.html#action06]
<scribe> ACTION: Felix: draft email to UnicoRe list saying we have comments by (next week?) [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/01/16-core-minutes.html#action07]
richard: proposes using the www-international list for more discussion
winter list a bit underused these days
some discussion and concern about how to manage comments there
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2007Dec/0013.html
http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/ltru/current/thrd5.html
removing the extlang production (which was reserved for future use) from the ABNF
felix; no statement about the stability of the ABNF
felix: might be a cause for concern and leaves a question about whether to refer to BCP47 or to a specific RFC 4646 (or a particular version successor)
<scribe> ACTION: Addison: send note to LTRU highlighting the ABNF stability issue and seeking resolution [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/01/16-core-minutes.html#action08]
this topic needs preparation
will defer to next week; addison to include in agenda with details
<fsasaki> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2007Dec/0017.html
the first they accepted
the second, on language tags, they are keeping the regex for xsd:language (basically the RFC 3066 structure)
doesn't need to say "successor", since using BCP fixes that
addison: could they recommend using 4646 (or later) "well-formed" ? this would promote the right behavior, even if they don't update the regex
felix: could go back to suggest this to them
<scribe> ACTION: Felix: respond to XML Schema 1.1, noting acceptance of resolution to comment #2 and suggesting the use of 'well-formed' as part of comment #1 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/01/16-core-minutes.html#action09]
