I've played a leading role in the BioPathways Consortium, in the creation and development of BioPAX and the establishment of the W3C initiative in the Health Care and Life Sciences. I'm a co-developer of the OWL-based BioPAX pathway ontology which has become the standard for pathway-related bio-research. I'm a lecturer at Harvard Medical School (it's a research not teaching position) and work part-time at The MITRE Corporation in Bedford MA, a non-profit FFRDC (http://www.mitre.org), currently constructing an ontology for influenza in collaboration with BioHealthBase and Gemina. I've recently become interested in the evaluation of ontologies and the use of ontologies. More background information on me is available at my Harvard home page http://arep.med.harvard.edu/~jluciano.
