on the OWL 2 Web Ontology Language last call drafts.
In order to avoid any possible confusion we have added some text to the OWL 2 Primer that clarifies the meaning of class and the correspondence with concept (see <http://www.w3.org/2007/OWL/wiki/index.php?title=Primer&diff=23518&oldid=23517>).
As a historical remark, the use of "class" in OWL 2 comes from its prior use in related representation systems. RDF uses "class" (as opposed to "concept" or another term). The original version of OWL uses "class" to be compatible with RDF.

| I skimmed through the OWL2 overview and primer, and
noticed that there is no definition of "Class". Since my first exposure to RDF/OWL in 2002, I had difficulty understanding "Class", because I automatically thought of "Concept" instead. I finally understand that Class is the extension set of Concept. Now, all of the "strange" properties of "Class" are obvious, because "Class" is just a set.
