ISSUE-82

Metamodel diagrams

RESOLVED: Metamodel diagrams in Syntax document should be aligned with OMG ODM

Description:
The Object Magement Group adopted a metamodel for OWL 1 in the Ontology
Definition Metamodel (see Chapters 10 and 11 of
http://doc.omg.org/ptc/2007-09-09 ). The OMG metamodel and the UML class
diagrams in the Syntax document should be aligned.

The UML diagrams in http://www.w3.org/2007/OWL/wiki/Syntax are are not quite UML:

  - Property names on associations should appear on the opposite ends of
the lines than where they do in the document (where the
    multiplicities are shown).

  - The UML notation for ordered properties is {ordered}, next to the
property. No adornment means a set.

  - Optional properties should have a multiplicity, eg, [0..1] or
    [0..*].

  - The dashed, hollow-headed arrows in Figures 3 and4 aren't UML
    notation.

White diamond has no additional semantics in UML than if it is absent.
Diagrams without white diamonde are less likely to be misintepreted.
