ISSUE-71
datarange language range
ACCEPTED: create datarange of literals matching given language range
- State:
- OPEN
- Product:
- Raised by:
- Jeremy Carroll
- Opened on:

- Description:
Given that we are making dataranges more expressive, should we add a construct to make a datarange of all literals matching a range of language tags see Jeremy J. Carroll, Addison Phillips: Multilingual RDF and OWL. ESWC 2005: 108-122 http://www.inter-locale.com/whitepaper/iswc2004.pdf and http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4647.txt

> I wonder what RIF is planning to do
As I understand it (which is not all that well), RIF equality is in the
semantic domain, so "1"^^xs:int == "01"^^xs:int, etc. I should make
this a test case to be sure.
Our current drafts equate RDF plain literals (without a language tag) to
xs:strings. For plain literals with language tags, we made up a new
data type, rif:text, which includes a language tag. In RIF, literals
are all data-typed literals. For details, see [1]
I hope that helps.
