This is an XML namespace reserved for use with the Pronunciation Lexicon Specification (PLS) Version 1.0 Implementation Report .

About PLS 1.0: The Voice Browser Working Group has sought to develop standards to enable access to the Web using spoken interaction. The Pronunciation Lexicon Specification is one of these standards and describes phonetic information for use in speech recognition and synthesis. The Pronunciation Lexicon is designed to enable developers to provide supplemental information on pronunciation for things like place names, proper names and abbreviations.

The PLS 1.0 Implementation Report describes a framework for authoring PLS tests. The framework encourages a consistent format for writing differnt kinds of tests to be authored in a straightforward manner. By employing a stylesheet, vendors may adapt the framework to their own test infrastructure.
