Sebastian? are you ready? We could already start

issues

<scribe> done yesterday are http://www.w3.org/2006/09/06-i18nits-minutes.html

have a non-ODD source in XMLSPEC?

Yves: Christian had a lots of trouble editing the ODD file
... we thought of what to do in the future, if Sebastian and Felix may not be here
... should we move to xmlspec for that case

Sebastian: it would leave the problem of how to generate the example schemas
... it would be very simple, the intermediate xmlspec would be the master
... and the generated schemas would have to be adopted manually
... the generated schemas have embedded comments which are derived automatically currently
... these would have to be adopted manually
... more difficult: if an content model changes, it has to be changed in three different places
... an alternative would be to say: we throw away e.g. the DTD

Yves: today we don't have todo anything

http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=3496 implementation

Yves: Christian went through these changes, but he could net enter most of them
... since he was not able to do anything with the ODD

Felix: an ANT script might be helpful

Sebastian: you should set up Yves to do the generation

<scribe> ACTION: Felix to create an ANT task for spec generation [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/09/07-i18nits-minutes.html#action01]

Yves: we might not have enough time to implement all proposals

http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=3640

Yves: we looked at the table in sec. 6.1
... that lists the defaults

http://www.w3.org/2006/09/06-i18nits-minutes.html#item51

(Yves explains the proposal in the /2006/09/06 minutes)

(Yves describes the case for localization notes)

Sebastian: no problem with breaking up the table
... but I want to come back to the edited text

Richard: I see no problem, but also need the edited version

Yves: we will do that today and other lot of editing

inheritance for localization note

Yves: I notice you could have different types of information in the localization notes:
... a reference, or other info
... Felix said: you should override the whole data category, no matter what information existed before
... so you would take out all existing information
... e.g. if you have a global locNote with an "alert"
... and you ovveride it with a local locNoteRef
... the alert would be overriden, since the local default is "description"
... that would be the same for e.g. terminology
... does that make sense for you?

Sebastian: that should be clarified
... it is not a huge burden
... are the talking about more than two bits of information

Yves: no

Sebastian: where would you say that?

Yves: at a place where we talk about inheritance
... we would need an example to clarify that as well

Sebastian: an example showing the repetition of the apparently redundant information would be good
... so to say: a data category is atomic, you express the whole thing or not

Felix: how about an example with the table?

Yves: to demonstrate inheritance, overriding and defaults
... in sec. 6.1

<scribe> ACTION: Yves and Felix to create an example for sec. 6.1 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/09/07-i18nits-minutes.html#action02]

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-its/2006JulSep/0128.html

issues to be discussed at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-its/2006JulSep/0128.html

Yves: on http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=3496
... Christian did some changes, overs he did not
... we will try to do all changes, but we are not sure if we have the time to do everything
... on http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=3509
... this is about restructuring the document
... again we try to do as much as possible

Richard: I hope that you are able to do 3509

Felix: would it be possible for you to do this in xmlspec?

Richard: quite possible

(discussion on what to use)

Yves: let's see what we can do today and tomorrow

meetings in November

Yves: I will be off the whole of November
... we have to take that into account if we make an extension

possible cases for substantive changes

summary is, we need to make sure that everybody in the WG is happy with the changes, and does not regard anything as substantive

we need to have that on the agenda in the next weeks

life after LC

we have the CR call, after that testing

Yves: we have to think this out, discuss that tomorrow

call tomorrow

Yves: same time as yesterday
