Capability to pass descriptive text through RIF
‘Escape’ sequences to allow uninterpreted text to be included in RIF exchanges.

Include (optional) meta-data to indicate that a part of a fact model or rule was to be passed through RIF as uninterpreted text.
Within the outermost markers there would be further markers to indicate - for the attention of RIF clients that could interpret them - categories of item. For example:
- • In fact models, business-oriented descriptions, comments, illustrative examples • In rules, business-friendly natural language expressions of rules, comments
RIF clients could choose to ignore this markup.
