Minutes are approved: http://www.w3.org/2004/07/20-ws-cg-minutes.html

Schedule updates

Calendar: http://www.w3.org/2002/ws/cg/2/03/schedule

Hugo: I have added 9-11 November 2004 for WSDWG F2F

<scribe> ACTION: Hugo to add dates of workshop and WSA tentative meeting to calendar

Review action items

Discussing: ACTION: MSM to cc this group on the report about what to do next with XML.

MSM: we have not reached the topic of XML 1.1 at our F2F, so we don't have a clear consensus within the WG at this point
... if this is a time-sensitive problem for somebody, please speak up

JM: in WSDL 2.0, we have isolated ourselves from dependencies on schemas by introducing our own types

MSM: it seems clear that we won't get consensus to do something as an erratum to 1.0, so it will be dealt with in Schema 1.1

JM: that means that our work-around will stay in then

<scribe> ACTION: [DONE] MSM to cc this group on the report about what to do next with XML.

MSM: there is not a formal decision from the WG, this is my own analysis of the situation
... people who would like to treat this as an erratum should say so on the schema comments list

<scribe> ACTION: CG to ping Addison about progress and rechartering [STANDING]

<scribe> ACTION: [CLOSED] chairs to send pointers to their WGs about reviewingI18N documents

(that was actually closed last week)

IETF policy on SOAP layered on HTTP

<scribe> ACTION: Hugo to ping DanC to discuss this during next call

Group reports

-- Choreography:

MC: we had a F2F at the beginning of August; cut our issues list by 2
... we are still aiming at reaching LC in December

SRT: we are currently looking at WSDL
... our intention is not to support extensible MEP's in WS-CDL

JM: we are wondering about the same in the WSDWG about whether the proliferation of MEPs is going to impact interoperability

MC: extensive debate about being able to support WSDL 1.1
... this is particularly important for BPEL integration

-- Description:

JM: we did reach our last call and had August off

<scribe> ... closed all of our issues on the media type document

UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: waiting for editors to update the document
... we're now working on the mapping to RDF and our primer
... the 2 WGs that I sollicited specifically were XMLP and Schemas, but we welcome other reviews
... I also have a pending AI about starting a joint group with Schema about versioning

MSM: we are actively working on versioning
... it would be good to have a confrontation with the WSDWG and its requirements within the next 2 months

JM: we have a few people very interested; they would be part of the task force
... I'll work on getting this set up

-- SWS IG:

CB: nothing to report

REST-ful Web services

SRT: I was wondering about adoption
... the report I read said that if REST was taken up, all the SOAP services were going to have a problem

JM: REST-ful SOAP services are a subset of SOAP services

HH: I think that you could do pretty much all things with both types, though in a REST-ful way, I think you would need to think a lot more about how to implement things

Next meeting

28 September 2004
