ISSUE-154: medium and mode do not capture the body part being used
medium and mode do not capture the body part being used
- State:
- CLOSED
- Product:
- EMMA 1.1
- Raised by:
- Michael Johnston
- Opened on:
- 2010-07-22
- Description:
- Need to revisit medium and mode, after discussion with EMO group. Medium and Mode
in EMMA classify how the signal is received. It is not possible to specify, for example,
what the user used in order to provide the input. For example, gesture input being tracked by
cameras can be classified as medium=visual mode=gesture, but there is no way to distinguish
head tracking from body posture from arm tracking. One strategy is to extend out the mode vocabulary.
'head_gesture' 'hand_gesture' etc. The other is to provide another attribute for this. - Related Actions Items:

Related notes:
Given the progress in the EMO sub group regarding using expressed-through for this purpose it makes sense to add the same capability to EMMA.
Michael Johnston, 14 Apr 2011, 14:31:14This issue has been dealt with by the addition of expressed-through,
in parallel with the emo attribute of the same name.
