When I encounter an hr:manager property, I know whether I know what it means.

Everyone can create such properties without congesting a central registrar.

The semantic web uses URIs as node (and property) identifiers.

• Globally scalable identifiers.
• Invention available to many diverse people.
• Most URI schemes leverage off DNS.

Many inter-document data connections are more scalable in RDF.

• They save n^2 adapters between schemas.
