What days do you plan to attend the meeting?
Choice | All responders |

I will attend every day | 5 |
I will attend only on 31 July 2007 | |
I will attend only on 1 August 2007 | |
I will attend only on 2 August 2007 | |
Other (details below) | 4 |
I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | 17 |
Responder | Attendance | Comments |
---|---|---|
Bill Mason | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Unable to travel to the meeting at that time. |
David Singer | I will attend every day | Tentative OK |
Carol King | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Prior commitment. |
Henrik Dvergsdal | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | This is too short notice. I'm on vacation at that time. |
Serdar Kiliç | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Currently unavailable for international travel due to finances. Should be able to participate via IRC. |
Henri Sivonen | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | I don't have enough information about the purpose and usefulness of the meeting, and I feel I'm not in a position to ask funding for travel without giving a good reason why I'd be traveling (especially considering that Mozilla has people they can send who are already in Mountain View, CA). |
Anne van Kesteren | I will attend every day | Tentative OK. |
Mark Martin | I will attend every day | Tentative OK. I will be in the Bay area that week. |
Maciej Stachowiak | Other (details below) | I have to check on time availability to see if I can make it. I think a fruitful way to run this meeting would be in "unconference" style, like Bar Camp. In other words, general meet & greet, and then smaller breakout sessions with presentation or discussion on particular areas of interest. |
Karl Dubost | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | |
Lachlan Hunt | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | I am not in the USA and cannot afford to get there. |
Laura Carlson | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Self-supporting working group member. Attending meetings is on my own nickel. |
Matthew Ratzloff | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Cannot travel |
Sean Fraser | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Schedule conflicts that cannot be resolved. |
Raphael Champeimont | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | I am self-supported and I can't afford to travel at that moment. |
Pasquale Popolizio | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | |
Ian Hickson | Other (details below) | I can't know if it would be worth attending without an agenda. We had a teleconference a few months ago that was a complete waste of time (at least for me, and for the half-a-dozen or so people who talked to me during and after the meeting). Without very clear indications of why this face-to-face meeting would be a productive use of our time, I couldn't justify attending. For the teleconference we were basically asked to trust that it would be productive, and it wasn't. I agree with Maciej that an unconference-style meeting, with no agenda, and with breakout sessions where people can present their ideas and have small group discussions, would be useful, if enough people attend. Incidentally, I take umbrage at Chaals' statement that I can't be bothered to turn up. If I had reason to believe the meeting would be productive, I would be the first to sign up. I think the issue is just that our relative priorities are different (I would put independent research and study above discussing an issue around a table). |
Chaals Nevile | Other (details below) | I am not the primary representative for Opera, and am unlikely to be in the US at that time just by accident, so I am not sure if I would attend in person. It is quite depressing that the only apparently actve editor feels that discussing issues with the working group is a waste of his time. If a meeting that had no agenda at all would a priori be useful enough for the editors to turn up, then I would also support this proposal (by at least sending someone to the meeting). I am not sure that there should be breakout sessions (especially if there are fewer than a dozen or so people attending) - it risks getting too close to just talking to oneself, but that can be determined on the day. |
Arun Ranganathan | I will attend every day | |
Murray Maloney | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Schedule conflict |
David Baron | Other (details below) | Like Ian, I (or maybe someone else from Mozilla) could probably attend if the agenda/plan for the meeting suggested it would be useful. |
Olivier Gendrin | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Will be in england (XXI world jamboree, yeah!). |
Shawn Medero | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | I can not fly out to California during this time frame (prior engagement) and regardless it is probably out of my self-funded budget for participating in the working group. (I live on the east coast of the US.) |
Sander Tekelenburg | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Too far. |
Gregory Rosmaita | I will attend every day | my participation in the face2face is predicated upon my medical situation -- i fully intend on attending, but there is a possiblity that it will be an impossibility for me to attend... |
Thomas Higginbotham | I won't attend (detail your reasons below) | Schedule conflicts. |
