Thomas Balouet I'm a Web developer focused on Virtual Reality since early 2015. I've contributed to WebVR since then, giving talks, participating in panels, writing articles to help the community learn about the WebVR whereabouts and how to get their feet wet.

I've worked on different WebVR projects, ranging from a 3D social WebVR platform (www.beloola.com), to a 360° content distribution platform and some PWA WebVR examples.

Daniel Beauchamp Hi I'm Daniel Beauchamp, and I'm the Head of AR/VR at Shopify, a leading e-commerce platform. I am both a web developer as well as a game programmer.

My team has been deep in the space of commerce x VR for the past 2.5 years, and have been very bullish on WebVR. Georgi Dangalov I am one of the founders of Vrandus - online platform for creating and sharing VR experiences using WebVR.
Olli Etuaho I've worked at NVIDIA's browser team for 6 years, most of that time concentrating on WebGL and doing open source contributions to browsers. Recently I've been working on specifying the WEBGL_multiview extension, which will reduce the overhead of WebGL stereo rendering.

Nicolas LOZANCIC As professionals in digital training for almost 20 years, we offer our customers a software that we have developed, Sphere. It allows non-developers to craft 360 or VR experiences without having any particular knowledge. The WebVR is fundamental to our target customers. They are large companies, willing to use only a web browser. Youri Gicquel 3D developer for the company Speedernet, I a m currently working on the creation of a 3D file format for our software which is deeply connected to 3D web (THREE.JS) and virtual reality so this format has to be optimized. I also work on plugin development to transfert 3D datas from Autodesk and Dassault 3D softwares to our own, via a file or via streaming.
Daniel van der Stam I am web developer (front end) and working on webVR projects at the moment. Also currently starting up the duct webVR community.
Marko Kungla I'm agile and passionate software engineer and architect who is just really enthusiastic about WebVR like we all :). I can identify myself also as Full-Stack Developer and DevOps Engineer which puts my focus and interests more into VR content distribution challanges, packaging 3D assets and optimizing delivery of VR content. Because of having also Sound Engineering background I'm also interested in audio expierence in VR and possible improvements on that subject.
Martin Edström I'm a photographer and storyteller working with interactive 360 photography stories and interactive virtual reality for media like National Geographic and The Guardian, as well as international organisations like the UN and Plan International.

I am a storyteller by trade (not a developer) but have been using WebVR and more rudimentary VR frameworks for several years to tell stories online - aimed both at desktop devices and mobile (magic window) as well as dedicated VR applications.

Kevin Derksen Hi, I’m Kevin Derksen. I’m working as a VR Developer for iNFRANEA, an engineering bureau, specialized in the design, visualization and project management of new infrastructure, from concept to realization.

As VR Developer I work with Unity to bring our projects in VR.

Coming from a very different background, with an education and experience for the past 5 years in the game industry, I started working with VR in 2014. Since then I have worked on a broad range of VR projects, from simulation to game experiences, from Mobile VR to the next generation devices like Oculus CV1 and HTC Vive.

In the past year I also started focusing on WebVR. With some experience with Web development and JavaScript, WebVR was quite familiar to work with. Besides some prototypes and demo projects, I have worked with the Forge API from Autodesk, and a experimental WebVR extension for the viewer.

Hristian Ignev We are a VR/360 studio focused on campaigns for good and telling stories that create positive impact.


We participated in the WebVR Incubator Bulgaria led by Bilyana Vacheva from Coherent Labs.

There we developed a WebVR demo for news media. The demo includes interactive/ multibranch 360 video and 3D scenes, where you can walk around and interact with objects. For the demo we had to overcome many technical challenges (360 video in 4k, preloading 3D assets, shaders for 3D model reflections, compatibility with different VR platforms and browsers, performance, etc).

Aysegul Yonet Hi, my name is Aysegul. I am a Google Developer Expert in Web Technologies. I worked at a VR authoring tool, Autodesk Play. Currently I am part of a consulting company and creating WebVR talks and demos.
Athanasios Malamos Athanasios G. Malamos received Bsc in Physics from the Univeristy of Crete (1992) and Msc and Phd from the Technical University of Crete at 1995 and 2000 respectively. From 1997 to 2002 he was research assistant and researcher in th ICCS National Technical University of Athens. Since 2002 is with Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Dept. of Informatics Engineering (former name of department Applied Informatics and Multimedia), as assistant professor (2002-2006) and associate professor (2006 until present).
Dr. Malamos is head of the Media Networks and Communications Lab, TEI Crete and he has worked as researcher or project coordinator to many EU and National (Hellenic) funded research projects. He is author of 63 research papers (18 in international journals, 6 chapters in scientific books and 40 in international conferences.

He is an active member of the WEB3D community and he is leading the Spatial Sound group of interest. His team contributed the spatial sound, the Humanoid and the Physics libraries in X3DOM platform.
He has served as Guest Editor in Graphical Models Journal (Springer), Special Issues Advances in Web3D and in The Journal of Virtual Worlds Research. He was also General Chair of the 20th International Conference on 3D Web Technology. Dr. Malamos has served as program and organizational committee in several IEEE and ACM international conferences and workshops. He is regular reviewer of IEEE, Springer as well as other international journals.

Dr. Malamos is honored with the ACM Recognition of Service Award and by the WEB3D consortium with recognition of his efforts as a member.

Dr. Malamos is a member of ACM SIGGRAPH, IEEE computer society and of the WEB3D consortium.
His research interests include multimedia services, multimedia semantics, WEB3D.
Ventsislav Lukanov I am the founder and pipeline manager of VRtual Spaces, a Web-VR based platform dedicated to delivering the highest quality 3D and 360-degree content for entertainment purposes. Chris Needham As the BBC's W3C Advisory Committee representative, I work closely with colleagues in the BBC R&D and BBC VR Hub teams to promote the open Web platform and WebVR. I am also a co-chair of the Media and Entertainment Interest Group and so the applications of VR to entertainment are of particular interest. The BBC's Reality Labs workstream is investigating the media production workflows needed for VR/AR experiences, what tooling is needed, and more generally what kinds of content could the BBC offer through VR/AR.

Cara Payne In my role at Brandwidth I am responsible for understanding the potential of new technology and the opportunities it can provide our clients. I work with our creative and development team to push the boundaries of VR and ensure that our client services team are taken on the journey so that as we understand more about new technology it's shared across the business, and ultimately drives new work.

I have mainly worked with the Nokia OZO in terms of VR film production and created environments in Unity, creating content for a multitude of clients but mainly hosted in an App. All work to date has come with its challenges in terms of educating clients about the differences in VR projects compared to traditional digital projects and establishing a new approval process, defining customer journeys and UX strategy for VR, understanding the type of content that works well in VR as well as the headset differences and how to enhance the overall experience with new types of assets. I think I can bring a lot of this thinking to the session and ideas about how to widen understanding of VR to those that are not around it constantly. I am also used to working with developers that create content for VR and making sure that they have the right information upfront to create the right experience so am at the helm of the type of challenges that come from the technical and creative side as well as the business side.

Debra Anderson Debra Anderson is Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Datavized Technologies, Inc., an immersive visualization platform using WebVR. Trogolo Kathy I am CEO and Co-Founder of Fasility LLC, a WebXR studio that produces enabling technologies for 3D web as well as WebVR/AR experiences that primarily utilize A-Frame and javascript. Cara Payne As a pioneer for accessibility in web projects I'm really interested in discussing how VR can have accessibility standards created as this is not something that has been explored properly yet and is so important for the future of VR.

Documenting the best way to create assets for VR is also an area of interest, not just in the actual production phase but beforehand, when trying to establish how a VR experience will look and feel before the development starts.

I'm also interested in the future of VR across different industries and increasing the interaction in VR experiences, for example payment gateways, advertising in VR and data capture which I feel have not been exploited to their full potential and could offer opportunities for a wide range of industries, from charities through to big corporates. Taking VR from a passive to fully immersive experience that works for the majority rather than the minority is a key area to be explored and understanding the tools that can be used to fully immerse users in their experience is critical to achieving this. 


Mostly gaining a wider understanding of the thought processes that other content creators go through and discussing the future potential for integrating with other types of technology like AR would be so beneficial to ongoing Web VR work.

Thomas Balouet I think one of the most interesting thing will be discussing with browser vendors on how we can improve WebVR experiences by directly including features (like accessibility through different types of controllers, 360° media playing, headset progressive enhancement...) in the browsers themselves.
Daniel Beauchamp I think we should start talking about payments. WebPayments is already a thing. Can we talk about how that integrates with VR ready browsers?
