Hi,

The minutes of today's call are available at:
http://www.w3.org/2008/06/12-bpwg-minutes.html

... and copied as text below.

Resolution taken for the Mobile Web Best Practices document:
"Change the Machine Test for OBJECTS or SCRIPT to say Machine Test: Test
for the presence of object or script elements in content delivered to a
device that does not support them, and if present carry out the Human Test"

We'll be addressing all of our documents during next week's F2F.
Thanks for taking some time to review them beforehand!

Francois.

Report from Task Forces

Jo: short of reporters it seems
... mobileOK Pro: email from Kai about a new revision
... waiting for feedback from the group
... on the agenda for F2f
... mobileOK Checker: email from dom
... comment to the Last Call. Dom, could you explain?

dom: I apologize for finding new problems
... while implementing new changes in the checker
... I found some things were not clear

Jo: I'd rather have no substantive changes
    ... CT, francois?

    francois: new draft is out
... house cleaning on actions and issues during last call

    <dom> [may I suggest that
    [9]http://www.w3.org/2005/MWI/BPWG/Group/track/products/12 be
updated before the F2F to reflect the current status of open issues]

       [9] http://www.w3.org/2005/MWI/BPWG/Group/track/products/12

francois: This clearly shows the remaining problems that we need to
    discuss during the F2F
... read, review and comment the doc!

Jo: Korean TF, don't think there's anyone on the call

Updates

Jo: Alan sent an email on Accessibility
... there's a draft of the 6th of June, and it has progressed since
    then (in the background).
... Yeliz, Alan mentions you're working on some text, can you give
    us an update?

Yeliz: I sent another email about the document this morning. I
completed my part. We're hoping to have some discussion about it in
    the EOWG tomorrow.

Jo: Alan won't be at the F2F but will try to join by tel
    ... On BP2
    ... Adam, update?

Adam: no update in the past two weeks I'm afraid
... I'll see to work on this tomorrow and come to the F2F with at
    least a list of issues

Jo: Yes, we've reserved a day on that
    ... On mobileOK Basic Tests
... published as a fourth Last Call document
... unfortunately, it seems that there could be some changes

<dom> [for context, the document was published as proposed
recommendation back in December 2006, and the AC review ended in
    January 2007]

<dom> [but news from XHTML Basic 1.1 makes it likely that the
document will be able to progress to Recommendation soon]

      [10] http://www.w3.org/TR/mobile-bp/#iddiv3126730128

<dom> [XHTML Basic 1.1 being the blocking factor for the Best
Practices to be stuck in PR for so long]

Jo: Adding Mobile Web Best Practices in there
    ... francois?

<jo> OBJECTS_OR_SCRIPT Machine Test: Test for the presence of object
or script elements in content delivered to a device that does not
    support them.

<jo> Human Test: If present, test that the user experience is
    acceptable.

francois: During the AC review, there was a comment on the
    OBJECTS_OR_SCRIPT best practice
... that the Machine Test was not correct

Jo: What I suggest is to do a non substantive change that I'll just
    paste in
    ... [typing]

<jo> PROPOSED RESOLUTION: Change the Machine Test for OJECTS or
SCRIPT to say Machine Test: Test for the presence of object or
script elements in content delivered to a device that does not
support them, and if present carry out the Human Test

Jo: I think it's a very very minor change
    ... anybody any objection?

    <dom> +1

    <yeliz> +1

RESOLUTION: Change the Machine Test for OJECTS or SCRIPT to say
Machine Test: Test for the presence of object or script elements in
content delivered to a device that does not support them, and if
present carry out the Human Test

    <jeffs> +1

Jo: plus some minor updates on the references that francois sent me

<jo> ACTION: Jo to enact the RESOLUTION on OBJECTS or script and
other updates to the references required as a result of other
documents being in new revision [recorded in
    [11]http://www.w3.org/2008/06/12-bpwg-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-775 - Enact the RESOLUTION on OBJECTS or
script and other updates to the references required as a result of
other documents being in new revision [on Jo Rabin - due
    2008-06-19].

Jo: So I'll update an editorial draft.
    ... francois, next steps?

francois: pending move of XHTML Basic 1.1 to Rec which is on its way
... so we should be able to move as soon as XHTML Basic 1.1 goes to
    Rec.
... Transition from Proposed Rec to Recommendation is a team-only
process. The working group is not to approve anything, it's the W3C
    Director that approves the transition.

Jo: reason for waiting for Rec and not transition when XHTML Basic
    1.1 is in PR?

    <dom> [12]Proposed F2F agenda

      [12] http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dd3jk8v_114tkbg6kgj

francois: unclear, but given that PR should lead to Rec in a short
amount of time, we'd better wait.

dom: right, and since this is going to be a transition in summer,
we'd better emphasize it by transitioning both documents at the same
    time.

Proposed agenda for F2F

    Proposed Agenda for F2F

      [13] http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dd3jk8v_114tkbg6kgj

Jo: the way we plan to do this:
... first morning: bash through CT guidelines
... many issues to address, informative/normative, outreach event,
    coordination with POWDER.
    ... dense morning!
... If we need more time, then we'll see, but we should target one
    morning only
... During the afternoon, mobileOK Scheme draft, but chaals
    unfortunately won't be there.
... Then mobileOK Basic Tests 1.0 where we'll address dom's points
    in particular
... Then mobileOK Pro, and relation between POWDER and mobileOK
... At the end of this long day, we'll be invited to a wine tasting
    party!
    ... Day 2: whole day on BP2
... I don't imagine that we'll be short of things to address,
especially if Adam has prepared some topics for us to digest
... Day 3: Checker. We need to have a plan to endorse the checker
(and not endorse it as previously thought because we've just
    introduced some changes)
    ... Accessibility
    ... Korean task force
... And thoughts about charter, charter extensions, and how to make
    sure everything fits by december
... We may end up doing something completely different, but that
    should not be the case
    ... AOB?

    <hgerlach> +1

<jeffs> thank you very much, francois, for the extra work today

    Jo: [session adjourned]

    <yeliz> byee
