[Position Paper for the W3C Workshop on Delivery Context] Shinichi Matsui Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic) As CFP mentioned, due to the expansion of the Web to non-PC devices, not only mobile phones or digital TVs but many kinds of home appliances now begin accessing the Web. Those appliances, or net-appliances, will be able to have chances to display their ability to the full, when their characteristics are transmitted to and understood by service providers. In order to meet the requirements of the users and the market for net-appliances, and to lead the home appliances industry (including audio/video and wireless communications area) toward new areas of progress, both the development and standardization of new technologies can be considered indispensable. Panasonic is one of the leading home appliances company - we are currently developing a wide variety of net-appliances, and are looking forward to the establishment and standardization of new technologies. Delivery Context technologies, including CC/PP of W3C, must be standardized, and widely accepted and used by industries. From this point of view, the consideration of existing works, including those of IETF and WAP, are very important in the standardization. But, the scope of the standardization should not be limited to those area. It should also reach wide probable net-appliances.
