(Tool description last modified on 2011-01-27.)

As the publisher of the STW Thesaurus for Economics, the German National Library of Economics (ZBW) provides experimental thesaurus web services for use by humans and by machines. In the first instance these services are designed to support query expansion in the context of information retrieval applications.

Within our own applications, particularly these services proved useful:

  • /suggest - for feeding autosuggest boxes with altLabels and prefLabels, linking to SKOS concepts (example)
  • /combined 1 - Combined information for retrieval services, delivers terms and SKOS concepts for arbitrary query strings (enriched by narrower and related concepts)
