    Current Situation

The Internet and services based thereon like WWW, file sharing sytems (Napster, Gnutella & Co.) and Usenet are enabling the unlimited exchange of data.

The origin of the data is not obvious. The owner cannot efficiently control and enforce them rights.

Where digital copying and distribution in the Internet is not controlled, there is a potential shift in generating revenue to the disadvantage of the legal owner and to the benefit of the infringing party.
